Sydney Blast will commence on February 27, 2022 and will run for 12 weeks. It has been organized jointly by Western Sydney Sports & Social Club and Gen X Sports Club.
Each match shall consist of one game of 20 overs. A new white Kookaburra Crown (provided) to be used in each inning of the match. No change of format (e.g., T25) or ball (e.g. red ball) will be allowed.
16 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 8 teams each. Teams will be grouped randomly using chit system. All teams will play matches in a round-robin league style within each group. This means that they will play once against all teams within their group.
Maximum of two bye will be allowed to each team during the league phase. There will be one reserve weekend for league matches at the end of league stage. If the match is abandoned due to rain or any other reason on the reserve weekend during the league phase, the points will be split between the teams.
If teams choose to play at a ground of their choice (and not at the booked grounds on Sunday for whatsoever reasons), it is allowed, however if there is any disagreement about the ground, the teams will be required to play at the official ground. The teams preferring to play at their own ground need to inform us latest by Friday 7:00 PM.
All teams must be ready to play 1-2 matches in the evening under lights. The organizers will try to meet teams’ preferences as much as possible but due to logistics issues such as limited grounds availability and other teams’ preferences, they might have to schedule the team/teams at a location or time that may not meet teams’ requirements.
4 teams from each group will move to the knockout stage. They will then play against teams in the other group in the quarter finals. It will be 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3. Following this, the winning teams will move into the semifinals and then the grand Final. All knockout matches (quarters, semis and the final) will have one reserve weekend. If the match is abandoned due to rain or any other reason on the reserve weekend during the league phase, the team placed higher (points and then net run rate) during the league stage will qualify to the next stage during knockouts.
Trophies will be awarded to the Man of the Matches, Man of the Series, Best Batsman (most runs), Best Bowler (most wickets), Runner up and the Winner. The cash prizes include total of $1750.
Every team can have a maximum of 20 players in the squad. Teams can play any 12 players from the squad in each match. Please note that playing a non-registered player in a team players name will attract strict penalties.
A player, who has registered with a team, cannot be transferred to another team after he has played a game in that team. If the team cancels their participation from the tournament without playing a single game, then the player can join any other team only if the team (he is joining) hasn’t played a single game and the team has not filled their roster with a maximum of 18 players. In all situations, the final decision will be with the organizers.
All players are required to wear dark-colored t-shirts & trousers (a white colored trouser is accepted but not T-shirt). No player will be allowed to play wearing shorts, sleeveless and slippers/sandals during the entire tournament.
During the tournament, all participants are expected to behave professionally and should avoid abusive language/gestures/ question umpires’ decisions. The participants must also remember to treat other players with respect as well as have fun.
There is a severe penalty for anyone retorting to verbal or physical abuse. That player will attract a penalty, which may include expulsion from the ongoing tournament as well as a permanent ban from the future Cricket League events for serious offences. If three players from a single team are expelled for violent behaviour, the entire team will be banned. The team Captain must make sure that this does not happen.
Verbal abuse constitutes as abusive, hateful, or malignant language, behavior actions.
Captains are solely responsible for the conduct of the players. In case of a dispute only the team captain shall voice his concern to the umpires during or after the match. An umpire is a fellow playing member; please do not try to bully him. Captains will be representing the teams in case of a dispute on or off the field.
The Team Captain is responsible for informing all the teammates about when the team will be playing and on what dates. We will provide the schedule to the captain only.
At no point, Western Sydney Sports and Social Club, Gen X Sports Club and the management committee held accountable for any injuries happening during any of the games, loss or damage of any kind, financial loss, and loss of business, revenue, or goodwill. This ‘no accountability’ cause is also applicable for any adverse event that may take place outside the field before or after the matches. Likewise, damage to public property or injuries to the public during the game will be the liability of the playing teams, and not the organizers. Western Sydney Sports & Social Club and Gen X Sports Club strongly advises all participants to hold relevant public liability, loss or damage and players injuries covers whilst taking part in the tournament.
It is every team’s responsibility to ensure that players have the correct equipment that is in good safe working order and take weather conditions into account when preparing to play matches.
It is every team’s responsibility that players are sufficiently fit and healthy to participate in the tournament. If there is any doubt, we recommend that you seek medical advice beforehand.
The tournament fee is non-refundable once the order for trophies is placed / the tournament has started. All payments to be made via bank transfer.
The non-availability of players cannot be a reason to not play a match. In such a case, the opponent will be declared the winner and awarded full points.
Likewise, if a team pulls out of the match or the tournament for any reasons, its opposition/s will be declared the winner and awarded full points. It is encouraged that despite issues on the field, the teams complete their matches and raise issues to the organizer after the match. The organizer reserves the right to decide as required, including declaring the match null and arranging a rematch or deducting points of the teams.
All umpires must follow the Umpires guide that will be provided separately. Some ICC guidelines are tweaked to make playing Cricket convenient to all in this tournament. Hence, it is recommended that all teams who will be contributing umpires during the tournament share the Umpires guide with their team members and send only those for umpiring who have read and understood the guidelines thoroughly. In other words, Captains are required to send qualified players as umpires. It is expected that Umpires will be those players who are polite, cool-headed, give clear signals, stay firm on decisions, and most importantly love doing this job. In case of any rule found absent in the Umpires guide, ICC guidelines will be followed. Umpires’ decision shall remain FINAL. There shall be no arguments during the game in the field regarding the decision. Organizers are open to debate in a peaceful manner after the game. One of the main objectives of this tournament is to make this entertaining to everyone and utilize gained experience to make future tournaments better.
All teams must agree that the provided players information can be stored and used by the organizer and their partners in connection with the organization, staging and administration of the tournament.
All teams must agree that players name, image and contact details can be used by the Organizer for: a) Promotion and marketing of Western Sydney Sports & Social Club and Gen X Sports Club. b) Adding to a mailing list to keep them informed about future tournaments. The Organizers will take all necessary steps to ensure that personal information or marketing information pertaining or relating to you which comes into their possession or control shall not be:
Used or reproduced in whole or in part in any form except for the purposes outlined in these conditions.
Disclosed to any person not authorized by you to receive it; or
Altered, deleted, added to, or otherwise interfered with (except where expressly permitted by these conditions).
If you would not like the organizer to use the marketing information or personal information other than for purposes related solely to your participation in tournaments organized by Western Sydney Sports & Social Club and Gen X Sports Club, please contact the organizers.
Photographs and Videos may be taken during the tournament. All teams agree to the publication of photographs and videos, and their broadcasts depicting their participation in Sydney Blast for future advertising and marketing purposes, as well as to support tournaments sponsors. This may include publishing event pictures on the Western Sydney Sports & Social Club and Gen X Sports Club website, and Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and similar social platforms.
Participant teams must inform Western Sydney Sports & Social Club and Gen X Sports Club of changes in personal contact/address detail as necessary from time to time.
For junior participants whose age is below 16 years on the match day, a higher duty of care exists and is the responsibility of the team’s Captain. They must not field within 30 yards circle and must always wear protective equipment’s as necessary.
In case of any discrepancy where the on-field umpires could not resolve a conflict, the organizer’s decision is final and shall not be contested during this tournament. The organizer will update the rule book with respect to that situation during the setup of future tournaments.
If there are two consecutive weekends when the knockout matches are not played due to bad weather or other unavoidable circumstances, there will be no more reserve days and the higher placed team (using standings at the end of the league stage or the higher net run rate at that point of time if team standings were same) will advance via a walkover.
The organizer may cancel the event if circumstances arise beyond his reasonable control, especially under the current COVID circumstances. In such a case, we will endeavor to communicate to the teams in advance. In the event of a cancellation, the organizer will have no responsibility for any costs incurred as a result of the cancellation. Any tournament fee left then will be refunded equally between the participating teams.
No trophy/prizes will be awarded for the abandoned or cancelled matches OR if the tournament is cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.
This agreement shall be governed by Australian law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts. If any provision of the agreement is invalid or unenforceable, in whole or in part, the validity of the remainder shall not be affected. The agreement does not create, confer or purport to confer any benefit or right enforceable by any person not a party to it.
The tournament format, rules, terms, and conditions are subject to changes. Giving consent means also agreeing to changes that will be made from time to time. The teams will be notified of changes when made.
